In the two stories Vietnamese Holidays, and Dancing to the Drum I found that there are many differences and similarities. In the rest of the story you will read about them.
The similarities of the Vietnamese holiday called Tet, and Dancing to the Drum called a Powwow are- “They both have fun games and activities to do at the celebration”. In the celebration they both have traditional food, like noodles, fried dough with cheese and meat, and beans. In the houses and on the trees there are decorations everywhere. Also there is dancing in both of them. The dancing could be out in the country or in the city like street dancing. The celebration can also happen in a big gathering or just a family.
The differences of the Vietnamese holiday, and Dancing to the Drum are- They are at different times of the year. A Powwow is celebrated when someone has a baby, or there was a good harvest that year. Tet celebration is celebrated for the Vietnamese New year, and for the found of them which is Buddha. Another reason they are different is that they are celebrated at different places. Tet is celebrated in China, and a Powwow is celebrated in America. Tet celebration happens around January or February. A Powwow is celebration can go on for days at a time. “No song repeated a Powwow can go on for three or four days.”
These are the similarities and differences for the Tet Holiday and a Powwow celebration. The one I would want to be in if I got to choose would be Powwow, because you get to dance around and have fun. Also if you are in the middle you might get to play the Drum. These celebrations are very cool for us and the people.
